The energy your mitochondria produce is in the form of ATP which is important to feeling and performing great. There are 3 major causes of fatigue; adrenal imbalances, thyroid imbalances and mitochondrial insufficiency. Dr J will review the how you can test and assess your mitochondrial function as well as how to improve your mitochondrial performance. If you have chronic fatigue and aren’t sure the next steps to take, this video should help you connect the dots.

  1. I was diagnosed in 2011 due to extreme fatigue with exertion while trying to complete my military fitness run. I use to be able to run 5 miles, over a small time I could barely jog a lap. My main abnormal finding is ragged red fibers and Lactate 6 to 8 (range is .5 – 2.2).

  2. This is glorious, I've been looking for "mitochondrial support formula" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across – Miyason Mitochondria Masker – (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my neighbour got cool success with it.

  9. Without doing expensive tests, you can make a educated guess by how your patient (that'd probably be yourself) looks clinically at what kind of problem it is… You can take your own vital signs BP (sitting and standing), HR, RR and T, and Blood sugar, weight, BMI . You can take a look at your own basic blood work, Complete blood count, liver function and renal function, cortisol, TSH, T3, T4, estrogens, progesterones, testosterones, dheas, homocysteine, CRP, RA factor, ANA etc…. Your can do a urine dip on yourself.. You can measure how much you pee and how how often, and the 24 hour volume…. You can monitor your stools…. Women can monitor their menstrual cycle and PMS symptoms… You can take a little history on your patient or yourself. Like for example, any toxic exposures, history of heart attacks in your family, diabetes, autism, etc…. (those all point to a methylation defect, so you need more folic acid)… You can look at your hair and nails…. for example white spots on your nails mean you are lacking in zinc, and no underarm hair and pubic hair in middle aged women means your dheas are low, and they are made in the adrenals…so if you're bald in places … it could be because your adrenals are not working well….. This will give you a place to start…. Unless you are diabetic on insulin or your adrenals don't work at all…. You can do a water fast for about 3 days…and then start eating like your ancestors did 200 to 400 years ago….That means essentially no sugar, no refined grains, no genetically modified anything, no milk or milk products of any kind, no tobacco (unless you have tobacco seeds from your ancestors that lived in the 1600s or so), no alcohol…… This sounds hard and complex… so to make it easy….don't eat any grains, even rice (which today is full of arsenic anyways), don't eat or drink anything that comes from the mammary glands of any animal, except your own mother (breast feeding I mean). Don't eat any sugar. Eat only leaves(like kale, spinach, grape, cabbage, lettuce), berries, roots (like carrots, beets, dandelion, turnips, ) , flowers (like brocoli and cauliflower) , fruit, mushrooms, wild meat and fish (but not too much fish), or animals that are grain fed…best to raise your own, or buy from people you know… Beware of toxic stuff in your food…if you're not sure, eat something else…. Exercise outdoor in uv light for about 30 mins every day….and exercise like walking fast at least 2 hours per day…. Calm your body by prayer, meditation, drumming, or something other culturally appropriate means. Learn not to worry, as this stresses your adrenals and other important parts… Sleep enough, 6 to 9 hours per night… when you're sick and starting to get better, you might need to sleep more, cause your body is healing itself… Build a strong social support network, and limit the time with people that make you feel bad….spend more time with people that say, good job, way to go! But who question you when you are about to walk off a cliff… As for supplements, you will need to take a Vitamin B 100 once or twice a day, with 30 to 60 cc of cod liver oil, and take enough Vit D to get your level up into the high normal range…and take a mineral supplement like Two per day from LEF… You can also take magnesium citrate..400 mg one to four times per day, until you get diarrhea (then you can cut back), or until your serum Mg is to high. (If you are constipated and have muscle cramps your magnesium might be to low, but also this could be low thyroid or MS, or a whole bunch of other things). Study your own body, and your behaviour, study the way your body looks and works, and your biochemistry works, know about toxins. Do all this at your own risk…learn to know and do what's best for your body and brain…

  10. An excellent overview, just what I needed to help organize all of the information into one coherent picture. I can see how other people commenting here can feel lost after watching this, though. To those who don't know what to do: knowing all that is in this video you now need to pinpoint the exact cause of your fatigue, starting with tests for disfunctions of thyroid, adrenals and mitochondria, and also looking for any symptoms of problems in neurotransmitters, gut and liver. If everything else is addressed, take a look at the mitochondria and address any deficiencies you may have. Try spirulina and MSM for detoxing (start with very low doses and slowly increase every 5 days or so – you may have gases), WPC for protein deficiency, d-ribose and B complex for energy production, iron if you are deficient and magnesium for detoxing and energy production. It is a long process, but it is worth sorting out. You may be on your own, because doctors generally are at a loss when it comes to chronic fatigue, but with this video as a roadmap for testing and supplementing you are already light years ahead. I wish I had come across it years ago.
