My guest is renowned cancer expert Professor Thomas Seyfried. He states that the primary difference between a cancer cell and a regular cell is how they generate energy. Healthy cells take protein, fat, and carbs from the food you eat. These are combined with oxygen to produce energy. Tumor cells function without oxygen; they generate energy by fermentation. The two man fuel sources for cancer are sugar and glutamine, and the cells are dependent on large amounts of these two substances.

Cancer can be caused by many different insults to our body, which can cause genetic mutations. Currently, most medical professionals believe that mutations cause cancer. But Professor Seyfried over years has shown that free radical damage to the respiratory function of the mitochondria, the cell’s energy powerhouses, is truly the cause. When the cells can no longer respire for energy, they must get their energy by fermentation. Over 1,600 people a day in the US die from cancer as a result of this tragic misunderstanding of the nature of cancer.

If you can prevent free radical damage to the mitochondria, you can prevent cancer. Treating cancer requires taking away the tumor cells’ energy sources of glucose and glutamine. The ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting are excellent tools for taking away the glucose. Tumor cells can’t use ketones for fuel. Keto is then paired with the drug DON, a powerful glutamine inhibitor.

Professor Seyfried’s team has never found a cancer cell that can survive in the absence of glucose and glutamine, no matter the type of cancer. But there isn’t one hospital or cancer research center that’s using the combination of keto plus DON on people, despite an abundance of evidence of its effectiveness in managing cancer. Studies on mice have shown promising outcomes. But when the prevailing belief is that cancer’s cause is genetic not metabolic, most medical professionals focus on genetics. And DON isn’t readily available in the required amounts; plus, it’s considered toxic, although it’s truthfully not as toxic as some commonly used treatments such as chemo.

His team is working with medical professionals in countries who are more open to trying alternative treatments, and achieving great success. Cancer is all the same, no matter the part of the body in which it’s located. The ultimate measure of success is, can you keep this person alive and healthy using this alternative treatment?

There’s more in this interview that I urge you to watch, so you can learn what really causes cancer along with successful alternative treatment.

  1. Not all cancers feed on glucose and glutamine. Take for instance mine is progesterone and estrogen positive. That is what it feeds on. The keto aspect works for some but not all. I can't take in enough fat to keep my weight and strength up., plus the higher fight causes me to become half sick. I know it's easy for some people to talk about this but until you go through it you have no idea.

  2. So I have this BIG question so when one has cancer we can not eat or drink ferment food because they have glutamine? And another even if we are healthy is it good to eat Fermented food like water kefir milk kefer, Fermented cabbage etz? And one last question is it good or bad to eat Fermented foods when one has cancer? I would like to see a video on these questions Dr. BERG

  3. Tfs, I followed the link from your Autophagy video because I started IF and ADF. I'm currently busy with my first 36/12 fast and am amazed with how my body responds. I'm doing it for weightloss but after seeing this video, I will continue with IF indefinitely😀 oh and no nuking me with radiation or dry needling me as I'm a lady🧐. I truly wish your research the best of luck and an abundance of money and talent👨‍🔬to see it through

  4. I have a cousin who has thyroid cancer and is taking medications not sure which ones. She said her weight has increased dramatically even though she is eating 'healthy' is that normal for some cancer patients?

  5. This is literally one of the BEST interviews I have ever heard by Dr Seyfried, as he and Dr Berg discuss Dr Seyfried's monumental work (Cancer as a Metabolic Disease, Wiley and Sons, 2012) in uncovering the fact that cancer is NOT a disease that begins in the nucleus of a cell.. but instead that first cancer cell begins when the power batteries/mitochondria within a cell suffocate from a myriad of causes.. unbalanced i.e. toxic natural and chemical hormones, environmental chemicals, viruses, etc. No wonder 1600 people a day continue to die in the US alone from metastatic cancer… while possibly 3x more die each day from lethal effects of the cancer industry's highly profitable and highly toxic treatments.

  6. Wow! Just, wow!
My grandma, who's been gone for 25 years, who only had a 7th grade education, was saying her entire adult life, that cancer was a disease due to overeating of the wrong foods, and that doctors and medical companies didn't really want to cure it; and it looks like now she knew exactly what she was talking about!
She lived to be 95, and was quite active up until her final year. Massive stroke took her out.
Also, she didn't set foot into a hospital until she was 88 years old, due to heart arrhythmia.
Seldom ever went to her Doctor.

  7. If you are losing weight that you can't afford to due to treatment and/or the cancer .. how can you do intermittent fasting and keto without losing even more weight

  8. The human body synthesizes glutamine on its own, stopping glutamine will not be easy and it may even be deadly to a human being to shut down endogenous glutamine synthesis.

  9. I have a question: What about estrogen? Isn`t it also some sort of nutrition for cancer? That`s what they told me after my breast cancer operation. My doctor told me, I have to do antihormonal therapy afterward, for over 5 years… Is this all wrong?

  10. In the mid of the conversation, I started to lose them, but they, on the other hand, react to each other back and forth and I realized I am a lil normie…

  11. I wish I knew this information nine years ago when my wife had GBM. 😥 Watching this makes me sad but also hopeful for when this information is more widespread and people get healed from this disease. 🙏🏼

  12. It's wonderful to see the internationalism it takes in such work. The world coming together for the greater good. Thank you Dr. Berg & Professor Senfried 🌹

  13. Great interview! Thank you Dr Berg and Professor Seyfried.
I'm a nurse and moving toward functional medicine and nutrition.
Had FNA of a large thyroid nodule 10 days or so ago. When I first felt it after an ultrasound it was relatively palpable. Since the biopsy it has been swollen and irritated and my energy drained. They said it's papillary cancer. My neck is still tender and sometimes it hurts up to my ear when I raise my head. I'm going to start icing it.
I also got an oral biopsy to the roof of my mouth yesterday. The dentist had found a ragged area that looked irritated. Asked if I had been eating chips. Nope I had been keto for 6 weeks lol. For 4 nights now I have been letting H2O2 sit in it with my head leaning over the sink. The area doesn't hurt even after that biopsy and that is concerning to me. Anyway, I am going to continue with the peroxide for the free O2 molecules and may do that 2x a day.
Unsure what I can do to support my thyroid. It is full of nodules. Hunting and hunting for info.

  14. 31:07 Why would you ever want to treat a patient with something that has the possibility of harming or killing them"

Yessss. Hippocratic Oath: First do no harm

They all know that radiation and chemo have about a 5% success rate and ravages good cells/tissues and the immune system, putting patients through hell in the process. Yet they still cling to their dogma and "standards of care".

    It's disgusting.

  15. Where is the best place in the US who is using the treatments that are being discussed the best- Riordan? My wife has cancer and after chemo and radiation is now onto a clinical trial, but if it doesn’t help this seems likely to work.

  16. My middle age female friend with breast cancer has just been sent this info. She has already had a rad/chemo session. Jeez…I hope this information helps her.

  17. I don't doubt his knowledge. Glad to know something can be done on our part to prevent cancer and frankly many other medical conditions as per Dr. Berg.

Also just learned of a man who was treated for terminal cancer with fendendazole. Unbelievable story!!!! Also good to know.

  18. If glutamine is also a risk factor, does that pose of any concerns for the carnivore diet ?
The carnivore diet is basically zero-carb, so that good is the cancer eats sugar. But if the cancer eats glutamine, than given that meat is a rich source of glutamine, doesn't that pose a problem ? As in, should someone fighting cancer lower their protein intake as well ?

I'm also wondering if extended fasting could be beneficial to fight cancer, given that it will starve the cancer cells of nutrients and trigger autophagy.

  19. This is just more proof that the standard care of medicine does NOT want you to get and stay healthy – because its a business model. That is very disturbing and sad because docs like Dr. Berg or Dr. Seyfried dont get a chance to practice HEALING medicine – no funding and constant pressure from Medical institutes that make treatment very difficult by using their standard practices with very aggressive treatments (chemo) – all this gets in the way of actually treating and healing a patient… it really gets me going. i feel sympathy for all the docs that actually want to help – but it seems they will never get "the word out " because the INDUSTRY of medicine wont allow it. there simply is no money in it. makes me want to cry.
