Is Holistic Nutrition Education Right For You? Take The Free Quiz:
Child obesity has grown significantly over the past few decades and Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs) is suspect in a child’s environment. EDCs can raise the risk of juvenile obesity by disrupting processes that are essential for growth and development. There are many ways a child can be affected by EDCs, such as from maternal exposure, inhalation and skin contact. EDCs can also lead to transgenerational health issues.
Hawthorn University Holistic Health and Nutrition Webinar Series welcomes John Ramotowski, MSc, CHNC for The Role of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals in Childhood Obesity.
Topics of this presentation include how EDCs enter the body, the impact relating to child obesity and other risks such as transgenerational effects. Further discussion will address how to assist with the mitigation of these concerns through education, nutritional choices and the impact of government agencies related to EDCs.
It is essential to remain educated to help avoid the damaging effects of EDCs for a child. Many hormonal changes are occurring during childhood development and minimizing any harmful effects must be a priority. As there are many misconceptions about what is healthy and what is damaging, physicians, nutritionists and dietitians can guide people and answer questions.
The goal of this presentation is to assist the audience in gaining a better understanding of possible prevention and mitigation of EDCs and to support optimal health for children and reduce the obesity epidemic.
