5 Tibetan Rites:
Here are 5 free biohacks you can implement into your routine each day:⠀
About 50% to 90% of vitamin D is absorbed through the skin via sunlight while the rest comes from the diet. A 2011 study estimated that nearly 42% of Americans are deficient in Vitamin D. Sunlight is essential for our pineal gland and pituitary gland to produce melatonin and serotonin. Start getting sun on your skin and eyes, just don’t look too closely for prolonged periods of time. 😎⠀
2️⃣ Cold Thermogenesis⠀
Exposing yourself to colder environments will stimulate and burn brown fat, that gets its color from high levels of iron, to maintain homeostasis and regulate our core body temperature. This process of cold therapy will aid in muscle recovery, boost our immune system, decrease the breakdown of brain synapses, and improve our sleep. Find a cold river, lake, pool, or even shower to immerse yourself in. ⠀
A study done in 2015 with 293 adults seeking psychotherapy showed drastic improvements in overall mood after writing a letter of gratitude each day. This study was significant because we know gratitude already shows benefits for healthy/well-adjusted individuals, but also those who struggle with mental health. Write down or make a mental note of three things you’re thankful for each day.⠀
Stretching will improve strength, coordination, circulation, and sleep while reducing anxiety and relieving joint pain. I see and hear from far too many people that do not stretch on a daily basis. If you don’t know where to start and are confused about what muscles might be tight. Try a system of exercises called the Five Tibetan Rites reported to be more than 2,500 years old. The practice is said to stimulate your endocrine system to restore vitality and strength. ⠀
Set in stone a non-negotiable time for going to bed and waking up each day. I use my phone as a tool to set an alarm 30 minutes to an hour before my bedtime to start my nighttime routine.
