  1. Ooh foetidus, I love that word. Related to the word “fetid” which means smelling extremely unpleasant. And it does! In the ravine. below me grows enormous ferns along the hillside which meets a swampy floor covered with skunk cabbage and a shallow creek in which I swam as a child. We would always pick it and melodramatically go, “ewwwww,” wondering if one could eat it. You ought to see the ravine, I think it winds around for miles.
