Mitochondria are known as the powerhouses of the cell. They are organelles that act like your digestive system which takes in nutrients, break them down, and creates energy rich molecules for the cell known as ATP.
Mitochondria play a critical role in bodily activities that enable cells to function and help maintain a healthy body, including:
– Production of ATP
– Regulation of the immune system
– Calcium homeostasis
– Programmed cell death
– Stem cell regulation
In this video I explain what mitochondria are, how they work and how you know if you have mitochondrial dysfunction (signs and symptoms)
