Metabolic adaptation is a physiological response that has been documented consistently in research. Specifically, the phrase used in most literature is adaptive thermogenesis. This is the concept of where the body’s energy expenditure drops to a greater extent than what you would predict with a formula while dieting. Alternatively, it can be energy expenditure increasing more than a formula would predict based on weight and activity while in a calorie surplus. In this video I do my best to make apparent why it is a factor worth considering.
