When we speak of Gandhian ideologies in the administration system, what we get is an unblemished Democracy where people get their best by doing their best. The system of the grassroot level includes a gem that caters to all the needs of the state.
Panchayati Raj institution (PRI) – 1. A system to bless the democratic decentralisation ideology.
2.It is a system of Gandhian ideology. Some crucial points are covered under Article 40 under Directive principles of States policy.
3.Also gets a constitutional backing after 73rd amendment & becomes an integral part under Article 243-243O.
4.Formed by people for the people. PRI consists of mainly the people over 18 years in a village.
5.Takes part & organises various events for the rural development based on available resources.
Challenges during the crisis -1.With the emergence of COVID,PRi had the responsibility to ensure safety & implement covid norms in the grassroot level.
2. Not only it implemented the guidelines in the rural areas, but also it kept raising awareness amongst people on COVID appropriate behaviour.
3.Assisted the local bodies in management of the migrant labourers who retreated to their homes as safe custody.
4.They took the initiative to ensure 100% vaccination of both the doses & annihilating Vaccine hesitancy amongst people.
5.As a post COVID measures,in rural places like West Bengal, there are schemes being implemented as 'Duare Sarkar' to listen to their problems & adopting necessary steps .
6.Post COVID employment generation is also done in some areas .
Moreover,it is evident that a fully structured PRI will help keep this system running in routine manner. It will boost productivity, enhance mobility & Generate employment.
