  1. Nick, what's your view on this:

    You can get about 1 calorie of usable energy from 1 gram of protein. Not 4. (very different from carnivore animals who can use about 70% of the calories in protein. Humans only about 25%.) You spend 1 calorie of energy on digestion and 2 calories on protein synthesis. The net result is 1 – (1 + 2) = -2 calories. (these are rough values.)

    All protein gets used for protein synthesis. I don't know if the body is able to expell excess protein. As far as I know, it doesn't. So it has no way to reduce the energy cost of protein synthesis.

    Knowing this, the protein content becomes really important in relation to how many calories you can actually use for energy or storage. If you do the math with the idea that all calories are 100% used for energy or fat storage,… it never works.

    Rabbit starvation is explained if you take this into account.

    So if I understand correctly, the high carb groups fat cells had become inefficient at burning energy..
    possibly because the presence of higher insulin levels changed the basic functioning of the fat cells mitochondria?Β 
    I have heard doctors say there is a time lag when going low carb before your body figures out how to switch into fat burning mode. This seems to be direct cellular proof of your fat cell either becoming energy dynamos or energy slo- mo-schmos

  3. Nature of Fat composition? – % of linoleic acid whose metabolites directly influence the function of adipose tissue in either enlargement of the cell or its division. LA metabolism and its direct role in obesity needs way more interventional human research, which should lead to the elimination of ALL seed oils from a human's diet that is evolutionarily consistent.

  4. Nick, what do you think of the studies coming from dr. Richard Johnson about uric acid and its relationship with fructose, but also purines, salt and dehydration?… And its influence on fat metabolism and metabolic syndrome?
