D-ribose is a type of monosaccharide that is naturally found in the cells, particularly in the DNA and the mitochondria where it helps maintain integrity and function. D-ribose is essential in energy production and improves cellular processes when there is a dysfunction in the mitochondria. Mitochondria produces 99% of ATP, which is the principal energy currency used for intracellular metabolic pathways.
