Let’s talk about the dangers of consuming sugar.

Here are a few commonly-known dangers of sugar consumption:
• Weight gain
• Dental decay
• Fatty liver
• High cholesterol
• Acne
• High blood pressure
• Candida infections
• Lowered immunity

However, sugar affects the body in deeper ways. Many people don’t know that most diseases are metabolic diseases, and metabolic diseases are related to mitochondrial dysfunction.

A lot of things destroy the mitochondria, but sugar and foods that quickly turn into sugar, like carbohydrates, are at the top of the list.

The effects of sugar on the mitochondria in the cells can set your body up for a cascade of health issues.

How to improve your mitochondria:
1. Go on the ketogenic diet
2. Exercise (HIIT)
3. Try cold therapy
4. Do intermittent fasting
5. Try high-altitude training
6. Reduce stress
7. Get plenty of sleep
8. Avoid alcohol
9. Consume foods high in phytonutrients
10. Consume nutrient-dense foods

  1. I actually ate two packages of zingers, half a tub of ice cream and a quarter section of German chocolate cake…

How i stay under 200 lbs at 40 now, as ive been at this sweet tooth thing for 3 decades, is an anomaly. Especially when i average 4k cals a day.

Its not good … but im convinced i cannot exist on earth without sweet indulgence.

The difference between 20 more years of life vs eternal slumber is negligible.

I do walk 10 miles a day to work and back plus get 10,000 steps in per shift and work out. Im still fat but like worlds strongest man fat. If i cut out just the insane levels of beer i consume before factoring sweets and food… id probably be too skinny.

So average 5 to 10k cals a week in sweets
    Average 50 beers a week
Typical 4k meal. Eat once, every 24 hrs.

I get after it and have good vascularity. Veins are always bulging in my arms and hands.

No 6 pack cuz i drank it but chest is big, gun arms, good definition, complete pec control. Typical manimal

  2. Started Ketogenic diet here in the middleast as i was addicted to sugar
1 month in and i have lost 5 Kgs and never been healthier! My facial acne got way better also!
    Lots of love ❤

  3. Except for fruits and raw honey, never be afraid or worry eating those nutritious foods if you don't have diabetes.

Also to importantly mention, fruits should be eaten with their skin as much as possible. The skin is where it carries allot of antioxidents and high in fiber which controls the blood sugar really well

So yeah fruit is bad for you generally if you dont know how to eat it 🤷🏻‍♂️

  4. That's the problem with me i don't get no sleep at all no one would believe.
Because of torture trauma from age of 11 and i'm in my 40's that's why i can't come off sugar and i take slewping tablet but not everyday that works.
Trust me i tried so much i don't get sleep therefore put on weight too

  5. I remember a "Health Yourself" class ~40 years ago at Fairfax Hospital. The man who gave us the class told us that sugar degrades the ability of the immune system to fight colds, flu, etc. That being so, the cold and flu season which runs from Fall through late Winter matches up quite well with Sugar Season which starts with Halloween candy, then pies, cakes and candies at Thanksgiving and Christmas then goes into Valentine's Day where millions of pounds of candy is consumed and lastly Easter candy rounds out the cold and flu disaster.

  6. I had an A1C of 9.3 and brought it down to 6.3 with diet and exercise plus taking inositol. I’ve recently added Berberine. Every time I try Keto I get hypoglycaemic even when I wasn’t taking any supplements for diabetes. Could I even take those supplements on Keto. I wish I could do Keto but I just get low blood sugar pretty fast. I do practice IF but can’t do prolonged fasts for the same reason. It’s frustrating. I take 2 benfotamine B1 supplements at night.

  7. ❣ – Dr Berg, please talk to us about:
    Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
Thank you for everything you do. 💙🙏🇿🇦🇺🇸

  8. I don’t eat added sugar, no HFCS, don’t drink soda, eat prepared foods, eat out maybe twice a month for Korean food. If I need to sweeten I use a little real maple syrup or local lehua honey. I do mostly keto, cook from healthy ingredients. No plant oils except organic olive oil. I’ve lost 105 pounds and kept it off. Also BP went from 140/90 to 105/65.

  9. Question for Dr. Berg: How much of your electrolyte powder do you recommend to add per a gallon of distilled water? The directions for the supplement say one scoop for a 16 ounce glass of water, however I wonder how much there should be if the distilled is all you drink, and not purely for supplementary reasons.

  10. Thank you for this video. I started IF almost 2 weeks ago. I have gone through the sugar withdrawal, and now i can look at sweets and dont yearn for it. I plan to start a 48-hour fast from tonight. Worried if I can make it but will be happy if I make the 24 hours. First time ever doing this.

  11. How can one see if their mitochondria is damaged? I'm someone who needs some level of documentation to know if something like this is really legit! I think alot of people think like this, it'd be great if everyday citizens could be able to see things like this in effect, how it's actually working! Is this possible?

  12. I am 66 years old, and I have numbness in my feet, muscles that barely work in my hands and sometimes I can barely walk. I have been doing Keto/Carnivore for a year now. I eat NO SUGER. Only carbs I get come from Vegetables, cheese and cream. I don't even eat those very often. I mostly eat Meat and fat. I take A LOT of b12 and b1 (both B1's) and I use creatine everyday. Please tell me why nothing really helps…. Sigh…..

  13. Literally impossible to stop eating sugar in America when every single company that makes food, puts it in everything; under a different name.
