The primary functions of Coenzyme Q-10 involve ATP production, which is the body’s energy supply, and its role as an antioxidant, protecting cells from free radicals and oxidative damage. CoQ10 is essential for the mitochondria, the powerhouses of cells, to generate energy. It extracts sources from the food we consume and converts them into usable energy. Healthy mitochondria are crucial for cell survival and overall well-being. Since the body uses CoQ10 faster than it can synthesize it, obtaining it through food or supplementation is necessary to provide mitochondria with the necessary ATP production requirements.
