I asked the study author to compare their intervention to sunlight. He stated that the device gives about 17mw/cm2 at 50cm and the sun is about 3mW/cm2 in the wavelength range so 5.5x more intense at that wavelength approximately. However, he also stated that he's seen the same switch at 2 min (just as good as 20 minutes). It seems to be like a switch that goes off with enough exposure and there is no dose-response curve meaning that more time or intensity doesn't mean a bigger drop in glucose. I've asked him for commercial product recommendations and I'll see what he says. I've been using Red (660 nm) and Near Infrared (850 nm) LED lights for over 10 years. To clarify, there is near, mid and far infrared in full spectrum solar light. Near infrared does not create heat in the body and is used for brain imaging. Coherent, single frequencies of light have a different effect than full spectrum light. A Harvard Study gives a good explanation of how the photons stimulate the Cytochrome C Oxidase and the respiratory chain.
"It is proposed that photons interact with heme molecules of cytochrome c oxidase. A molecule of heme contains a porphyrin ring and an atom of iron in the center. The iron atom (Fe) can switch oxidation states back and forth between ferrous (Fe2+) and ferric (Fe3+) by accepting or releasing an electron. The porphyrin ring is a complex aromatic molecule that has 26 pi electrons which are "delocalized", spinning in the carbon rings creating a resonating electromagnetic cloud. Photons with similar wavelengths are absorbed by the cloud increasing its energy. The energy is then passed on to the centrally located atom of iron existing in a reduced state (Fe2+). The electrons on the orbits of the iron atom accept this electromagnetic energy, and change orbitals to a higher energetic level. If the energy is sufficient, electrons leave the atom entirely. If this occurs, Fe2+ become oxidized to Fe3+ releasing electrons, thus restoring electron flow and the production of ATP."
Amazing! And it works on every type of tissue in the body. There is so much more to say. I could go on and on.
Another innovation from Raymond Royal Rife's / Nikolai Tesla experimentation with light, sound and UVA rays from their 1920s research. Just look at it and see the uncanny resemblance. The Rife machine will get created soon.
This looked like a scam video from the title, but Google Bard confirmed this may be legitimate.
Leave it to Roger Seheult to bring us yet another of the most surprising and fascinating research findings.
I can't even imagine the quality of medicine if all doctors kept themselves this well informed and dug this deep.?
Awesome information, and the sort of thing that not only passes aling valuable information, but also shows us non medical folks that there are dedicated / smart people woeking on very useful, non-drug therapies snd the general understanding of the complex systems of the human body and health..
What about the universal use of sunblock?
To never have high blood glucose all you have to do is eat a low fat vegan diet. It works 100% of the time. Ive had 1000s of patients its never failed and never will fail
Thanks so much !! Just purchased a panel and after I showed this to my wife , she didn't give me any flak! She trusts your opinion much more than the ER doc she is married too. Could you please do an analysis of the Nature study regarding long COVID and lab findings? Thanks so much for all you do – it's so helpful top so many!
Thanks!
Very well presented analytical deconstruction of this study. Thank you. Curious as to the basis of the conclusion as to mechanism of action.
There's a vast difference between healthy individuals with elevated glucose and diabetics, but media and marketing are proposing that red lights cure diabetes.
There's a long distance between treating wrinkles and skin conditions with infrared-range light, including diabetic lesions, to propose red lights as a treatment for diabetes itself, which is what the comments to the video make it look like – and Google results leading to wellness websites, making red lights good for everything. Bone growth, hair repair, acne, oral care, psoriasis. Only skin issues treatments have scientific backup. Infrared light can penetrate the body several centimetres deep, but red light, just 1 to 3 millimeters.
So, no peer-reviewed papers supporting this claim, but one study uploaded to a pre-print service and to a social network. Ready to publish is not the same than published and corroborated. And the cohort study, is not about red light, but outdoor temperature and bright sunlight, which included triglycerides – and physical activity? Were the subjects just lying taking sun baths? In England and the Netherlands?
In a country where people die due to insulin being outrageously expensive, proposing red lights as a treatment is borderline irresponsible. The last analogy was flawed, to say the least. Chilean here. The comparison between life in developed and developing countries disregards all the other differences: diet, climate, social activities – the existence of public/affordable healthcare systems. Guess what: there are plenty of diabetics in Chile, and, interestingly, in American First Nations, who are about three times more likely to get diabetes than the white population. Attributing Americans' obesity and diabetes rates to lack of outdoors activity and sunlight, in a country where even bread is actually cake, is fallacious.
Are we already into quackery territory, or can we still stop before having to report the next videos for misinformation?
Librarian here. Please, prove me wrong with peer-reviewed sources.
So diabetics dont get enough sun??
Why do people who work ourdoors still have diabetes?
These studies also indicate how dependent our physiology is tied to our parent star. If humans are ever going to explore other planetary systems, we will either have to drastically change our physiology, mimic conditions on Earth or some of both.
Well, I guess I can see why vinegar gives you energy. I also knew there was something more to the sun than just vitamin D. I wonder what else it stimulates
For those interested in Red Light Therapy check out Dr. Catherine Hamilton ?
Yeah? You sure it's not just because they were outside and moving around? Either way, it would probably have a positive effect. So would just jumping on a treadmill inside!
I'm pretty sure IR light gives off heat. The control group should have included heat (from a non radiation source, like a heater) as a control. The heat could be causing relaxation and changes in hormones. I'm disappointed in the experimenters for missing this.
Study not yet Peer review ?
So the study numbers are not verified as statistically significant?
So, we should have first breakfast shortly after sunrise and dessert after sunset?
What's interesting to me is that I had created a fictional therapy based on light for a story I'm writing, and now real research is suggesting that different colors of light do, in fact, have therapeutic properties.
Coincidentally, for several years I've had red LED Christmas lights turned on in my bedroom constantly. I wonder if that helped my T2D or other chronic health conditions. I used to turn them off during the day but when I got back from the hospital after heart attack and cardiac arrest I saw that they were on and probably had been for the whole month I was in hospitals. So, I decided to leave them on for the symbolism. Now, I wonder if that helped my convalescence.
Does it matter if it's coherent light? Also some have reported burns when using boxes. It seems like there is a hormetic effect and we need to establish max dosage and the best delivery mechanism.
Also, as a side note, I wonder if this means wearing red fluorescent material may be good since it converts uv into red light, and we still want to reduce UV exposure. I wonder if the fibers will need to be transparent/ translucent for max effect. Since other wavelengths have also been found to be helpful as well, I am predicting a surge of dayglow in sports and casual fashion. It's a 90s revival dude!
Thank you for delving into this study and explaining the effects of red light on the mitochondrial mechanism. Have or will you produce a video on the synergistic effects of red light with Methylene Blue? Apparently it's quite profound.
