2. How ATP is Made in Mitochondrion – the Details

This second video from the SUN Project describes the steps that allow some energy from the food we eat and the oxygen we breathe to be stored in ATP. This video provides details about the three interacting systems that were described in the first video:

1) The movement of electrons that causes…
2) The pumping of protons that ultimately causes…
3) The production of ATP by the ATP synthase.

The end of the video provides a URL for the SUN Mitochondrial E-book at www.msoe.edu/academics/research_centers/sun/. There this process can be explored in greater detail in the context of a David Goodsell drawing, the nested SUN trays and a simple schematic, .
