Thanks for stopping by, today we are talking about Mitochondria, and why it’s the powerhouse of the cell.
Reason number 1: Mitochondria are like tiny energy factories within our cells. They are the main producers of Adenosine Triphosphate or ATP, which is the energy currency for most cellular activities. Without it, we can’t move, we can’t think, and we can’t live.
Reason number 2: Mitochondria dominate the cellular space taking up as much as 25% of the cell volume. In numbers, a single cell can typically contain between 1000 and 2500 mitochondria. That’s a lot of mitochondria.
Reason number 3: Mitochondria has its very own DNA that is separate and distinct from the DNA in your nucleus. This unique DNA helps them control their own destiny and carry out their energy-producing duties!
