Applications of Mind Body Medicine For Long COVID I 1 Hour I Dr. Shannon McLain

This special session will explore the promising applications of mind-body medicine (MBM) in facilitating the recovery process for individuals facing the lingering effects of COVID-19. Long COVID, also known as Post-Acute Sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), has emerged as a challenging and complex condition affecting many individuals worldwide. As traditional medical interventions focus primarily on alleviating physical symptoms, the integration of MBM modalities has shown great potential in addressing the multifaceted aspects of long COVID recovery. Attendees will be introduced to integrative approaches that can support the healing process, including the Diaphragmatic Vagal Repair Method (DVR-M©), a somatic breathwork practice developed by Dr. McLain to support long COVID recovery.

Shannon serves as faculty at Saybrook University’s College of Integrative Medicine and Health Sciences. She received her PhD and master’s degree in Mind-Body Medicine from Saybrook, as well as two Saybrook certificates: integrative wellness coaching and integrative and functional nutrition.

Professionally, Shannon is a wellness coach, mind-body specialist, and head of integrative health coaching with Aila Health. Informed by her personal recovery journey, Shannon takes a special focus on helping people suffering from prolonged COVID-19 symptoms cope with and manage their symptoms so they can regain their energy and feel in control of their health. She is passionate about educating on the importance of the mind-body connection and the various avenues in which self-healing can be achieved.
