Overlooked driver of decline — the influence of temperature on food intake in arboreal folivores. Heat-stressed animals eat less to limit the production of heat as a by-product of digesting and utilizing nutrients, but the interaction between feeding and thermoregulation is often overlooked in wild animals. I will discuss the consequences of elevated nightime temperatures on greater gliders and other arboreal folivores and propose future management strategies to help mitigate the impacts of a warming climate.
