Fructose & Uric Acid: Their Link With Obesity And Metabolic Diseases | ft. Dr. Richard Johnson

Fructose syrup is a commonly used sweetener that is found in a variety of processed foods and beverages. Fructose is a simple sugar that is naturally found in fruit and some vegetables, but the fructose syrup used in foods is usually made from cornstarch.

The use of fructose syrup has become widespread in the food industry due to its low cost and high sweetness. However, consuming excess fructose has been linked to various health problems, including obesity, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome.

Fructose can be harmful to the body in excess amounts. Additionally, fructose can increase levels of uric acid in the body, which can contribute to the development of gout.

For individuals with diabetes, consuming too much fructose can lead to increased blood sugar levels. However, consuming small amounts of fructose from whole fruits and vegetables as part of a balanced diet is generally safe and beneficial.

In this Live session, Dr. Weimbs, the president of Santa Barbara Nutrients (SBN), discusses Dr. Johnson’s research, the link between Fructose and Uric Acid with Obesity and a host of other metabolic diseases including Cancer, Alzheimer’s Disease, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and Mesoamerican Nephropathy.

In conclusion, fructose is a type of sugar that is naturally found in fruit and some vegetables. While excess consumption of fructose can be harmful, consuming moderate amounts of fructose from whole foods is generally considered safe and healthy. It is important to be mindful of added sugars, including fructose, in processed foods and to consume a balanced diet rich in whole fruits and vegetables.
