GW Biomedical Cross-disciplinary Seminar Series | Metabolic Control of Inflammation & Infection

This GW Biomedical Cross-disciplinary Seminar Series lecture is on “Metabolic Control of Inflammation and Infection” with Vishwa Deep Dixit, DVM, PhD.

Dr. Dixit is the Waldemar Von Zedtwitz Professor of Comparative Medicine and of Immunobiology at the Yale School of Medicine, and a member of the Yale Center on Research on Aging. He studies the interaction between immune and metabolic systems with the goal of revealing targets that can be harnessed to extend the healthspan—the period of life that is free of disabilities and disease.

The Dixit Laboratory has helped define the role of innate immune sensor NLRP3 inflammasome as a predominant inflammation triggering mechanism that causes systemic degenerative diseases of aging, including metabolic dysfunction.

The GW Biomedical Cross-disciplinary Seminar Series: Connecting Academic Research & Inquiry Across Disciplines is a series of seminars that explore a new cross-disciplinary topic each year. For the inaugural year, the focus is “Inflammation in Chronic Disease: Cause, Consequence, or Both?” and will address both the treatment and prevention of chronic inflammatory diseases.
