Single and interactive effects of nanoplastics on mitochondrial function in developing zebrafish

Plastic pollution has become a major environmental threat, because of their ubiquity and degradation to smaller particles, such as micro- and nano plastics. Though macro and micro plastics toxicities is well characterized, the toxicity of nano plastics isare yet to be studied. Dr. Prabha Ranasinghe discusses her work investigating the toxicity effects of nano plastics in the presence of rotenone, a potent mitochondrial toxicant on developing zebrafish.

Prabha Ranasinghe, Ph.D., is a postdoctoral researcher in Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University.
