Therapeutic Development 4: The challenges of developing combination therapies (Rallying 2023)

Rallying to the Challenge 2023 – DAY 2
Featuring Dr Sonia Gandi, UCL, Francis Crick Institute

Currently, our understanding is that most cases of Parkinson’s develop idiopathically (randomly) as a result of a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Therefore, as we continue to work towards developing disease-modifying therapies and personalized treatments for people with Parkinson’s, combination therapy may be necessary to address the various drivers of disease progression. In this talk, Dr Sonia Gandi reviews why we are considering combination therapies and the challenges in developing this approach.

This talk was given as a part of the Rallying to the Challenge meeting, hosted by Cure Parkinson’s and the Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids, Michigan on September 27-28, 2023. Rallying to the Challenge is a meeting designed for and by people with Parkinson’s, advocates, and care partners to explore how the Parkinson’s community can impact and accelerate research. It is a part of the larger Grand Challenges in Parkinson’s Disease meeting, an annual scientific symposium for Parkinson’s research.
