Cold Thermogenesis

Til-Gul Barfi | Sesame Jaggery Barfi | Makar Sankranti/Lohri Special | The Foodie Tunes

Tilgul barfi is a traditional sweet from Western India, prepared during winters, especially on the occasion of Makar Sankranti /Lohri. The reason that it’s consumed in winters is because it helps in thermogenesis i.e. producing heat in the body to maintain internal temperature during cold months. Sesame is a good source of protein and jaggery provides Iron to the body thus making Til-Gul barfi a very nutritional sweet.
