Ancient Genomic analyses are powerful new tools for reconstructing the past. In this talk, we’ll discuss what DNA and ancient DNA are, why it is so difficult to recover it in the tropics and explain the methods we use to still achieve it. We’ll also summarise what we have learned from the already analysed genomes of Caribbean ancestors and discuss the interdisciplinary, co-creative process needed to piece together the puzzle of the Caribbean’s deep genetic history and to situate Trinidad within it.
