This paper describes a new mechanism whereby adipocytes (fat cells) stressed by obesity release damaged mitochondria inside vesicles into the blood stream to be taken up by cardiac (heart) cells and create a micro-stress in the heart to train the heart for larger stressors. It’s an adaptive response to a pathological state. Very cool!
