The first thing to understand is the difference between belly fat (visceral fat) and body fat (subcutaneous fat).

Visceral body fat, also known as ‘hidden’ fat, is fat stored deep inside the belly, wrapped around the organs, including the liver and intestines. This type of fat is more inflammatory.

Subcutaneous fat is part of the innermost layer of the skin along with connective tissues. This innermost layer of the skin is also known as the hypodermis, and it helps regulate body temperature and contains blood vessels and nerves. This type of fat is not as inflammatory as visceral fat.

Enter fasting.

When your body is in a fasted state, amazing things begin to happen.

The body raises counter regulatory hormones. These hormones increase because insulin drops.

Lowering insulin is the key here since high insulin levels block you from tapping into your visceral fat.

Once you deplete your glycogen (sugar reserves) and lower insulin enough, you tap into your belly fat for fuel.

This video explains the best fasting schedule to accomplish this, and tips and tricks to get more fat burning results with fasting.

Glucagon is a hormone that is involved in controlling blood sugar (glucose) levels. It is produced by the alpha cells, found in the islets of Langerhans, in the pancreas, from where it is released into the bloodstream. The glucagon-secreting alpha cells surround the insulin-secreting beta cells, which reflects the close relationship between the two hormones.

Glucagon’s role in the body is to prevent blood glucose levels dropping too low. To do this, it acts on the liver in several ways:
It stimulates the conversion of stored glycogen (stored in the liver) to glucose, which can be released into the bloodstream. This process is called glycogenolysis.

It promotes the production of glucose from amino acid molecules. This process is called gluconeogenesis.

It reduces glucose consumption by the liver so that as much glucose as possible can be secreted into the bloodstream to maintain blood glucose levels.

Glucagon also acts on adipose tissue to stimulate the breakdown of fat stores into the bloodstream.

During your fast, glucagon increase while glycogen stores decreas.

The best fasting routine for fat loss is….
36 hour fast to tap into deep belly fat x 12 hour eating window…
Sunday done eating at 7pm
fast until Tuesday at 7am, eat until 7pm
then fast Tuesday at 7pm until Thursday at 7am… etc..

Ways to accelerate fat burning during a fast
Fasted workout (cardio or high intensity)
Cold exposure / heat exposure
coffee/mct oil for ketones (increase ATP and basal metabolic rate)
Goat and sheep dairy during your eating window
