Mitochondrial Health

Methylene Blue, boosts mitochondrial health and much more!

I internally groan a little every time I hear people suggest using the I word for that thing that’s going around. I would never take it, even though it’s probably not as bad as some of the mainstream treatments being pushed on us.

I’m also very surpised no one seems to be promoting Methylene Blue for the same puposes. I’ve used both Methylene Blue and the I word in my fish tanks for decades, and while one is incredibly safe and effective and has never caused a single problem even when I spilled a whole bottle in the tank – the other has terrible effects on the fish and would probably be an absolute disaster for a human to take on a regular basis.

There are people who do take it regularly for malaria prevention but no one is claiming it is a health supplement. For example, it destroys your mitochondria, which has insanely bad health effects; on the other hand, Methylene Blue does the opposite, which has amazing health benefits.

Methylene Blue is a huge topic to cover because there are just so many ways it can be beneficial, so I will probably make more videos on it in the future.

The main thing to understand is that it improves mitochondrial health, and it also is selectively taken up into the mitochondria. In biology labwork, when you want to see the mitochondria in a cell, or see the nerves in a tissue, you use methylene blue to highlight them.

This alone is an amazing property because most supplements that could theoretically help your neurons and other brain cells are unable to penetrate the blood brain barrier. These cells also have more mitochondria than any other cells in the body so they are especially helped by Methylene Blue. When it gets there, it has an amazing effect, increasing the ability of the mitochondria to produce energy and utilize oxygen. At the same time, it selectively kills off pathogenic bacteria which have a much less robust ability to utilize oxygen.

It even promotes apoptosis in malfunctioning cells such as those infected with a virus. Or cancerous cells, for that matter. If you get poisoned with cyanide and can’t get any oxygen to your brain, this is also what they use to immediately neutralize the poison.

What’s more is that it is a photosensitizer, making the mitochondria more able to absorb the red light spectrum. This means that all red light therapy will have a much greater effect. Not just a greater positive effect on healthy cells, but it will increase the killing power of Methylene Blue upon pathogens and even for cancerous cells.

While getting more oxygen is a blessing to healthy cells, it’s generally death for cancerous cells and for most pathogenic bacteria. However this is not a miracle cure for either type of condition and some types will be greatly affected while others may not be affected at all.

On top of all this it actually chemically breaks down viruses and can break the mechanism of action on the ACE receptor of a certain bug we’re all sick of hearing about by now.

When nothing else works, this is what the doctors use for intractable or mysterious infections, and it has surprisingly good results even on totally drug resistant bacteria. What’s more is that while drugs incur resistance over time, this can never be an issue for Methylene Blue as it does not work through chemical receptors at all. It is also entirely side effect free at any theapeutic dose, though you might want to avoid using it if you are on an SSRI oe MAOI inhibitor as there could be an interaction. Only when used to flood entire body cavities during certain surgeries have side effects been noted.

It’s even been shown to help in the recovery of Traumatic Brain Injury. On top of all this, mitochondrial damage is one of the leading factors in aging. Anything that reverses this is going to have a big effect in helping you avoid the symptoms of aging at a cellular level. Many people taking it report a better memory, more energy, more physical endurance, and easier recovery from hard workouts.

There’s even studies and trials using Methylene Blue for treating and preventing Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases, both of which present with insulin resistance and reduced mitochondrial function in the brain. Due to its ubiquitous nature it’s also easily available and always will be, though as a disclaimer I will say you should see your personal physician for any personal medical advice – especially when it comes to drug interactions; and this video is strictly for educational purposes.
