OUR BODIES' SELFISH CELLS: The Warburg Effect and Understanding How Cancer Survives

The Warburg Effect is considered the hallmark of cancer cell metabolism and is defined as: a cancer cell’s increased glucose uptake, production of lactate even in the presence of oxygen, and utilization of the biosynthetic Kreb’s cycle. Understanding the Warburg Effect provides a key foundation for developing cancer treatment options and diagnostic tools.
